This image is the counterpart to a poem I wrote in winter 2023:
 
Wind and Water
Sand and Stone
Sun bleached cliffs
And frozen toes
A story made
A story told
Hands to earth
The fire grows.
 
This poem and image came from a moment in time in winter 2023.  A partner of mine had brought me to a spot that they hold sacred on the Rio Chama.  We got to love the land together, explore the land together, share our stories, and see each other in new light.  We crossed the snow melt river, scrambled over rocks, let sand fall between our fingers, and then sat by a fire as day turned to night.  I am so grateful for the moments in my life where I feel fully connected to land and wildness and my kin all at once.  It can take a special human to do this with.
